The weather forecast is looking very nice around Craig Montana which should make the mighty Missouri River a great option to wet a line. Nymphing is going to be the most consistent option but some good cloud cover should stir up some midge hatches.
We have been fishing a pink or orange sow bug as out lead fly dropping down to a small shiny Perdigon or Zebra Midge. Set your indicator around 6’ to start and add some split shot about a foot above your lead fly. Focus your fishing on the deep slow runs, we are finding fish sitting on the drop offs and inside bends.
If some heads are coming out for dry flys we have been fishing some classic midge flys like a Griffiths Gnat or a Top Secret Midge on a 4-5X leader.
